Life often brings unusual experiences. A random man knocked on my Facebook page and asked: “How to get rid off nematodes organically?” And that’s how this story began.
Muhammad Iftikhar is a progressive farmer from Pakistan who decided to switch to the organic agriculture.” Once a doctor told me that the farmers are the major blameworthy in raising many kinds of diseases in humans like digestive problems, kidney problems, blood pressure and diabetes etc. Next he elucidated the ratio of such types of disease increasing day by day swiftly. Being a farmer, I think “What am I doing for my community, soil, environment and for our new generations?”
I decided to change the methodology of my agriculture and adopt the organic food farming on a short portion of my lands for the start. I faced many difficulties to grow the healthiest food. I contacted to the agricultural institutions in my country because I was not sure how to produce organic food but didn’t get any response. Our department wasn’t capable in assisting the farmers in this regard. I found all the information on the Internet and with the help from my online friends.
Many of my productions are not 100% organic but we are mostly growing organically 🍅 For example, the cold weather crops. We are trying to improve this methodology of production and raising every year our organic crop production areas. People like our farm foods: these are rich in taste, we trying to develop it day by day, we are going to maximum utilization of renewable energy, focus in raising the organic matter of our lands, biogas technologies, efficient irrigation systems, organic demo sites for farmers. Now we have started farmer trainings and motivation for the sustainable agriculture and giving advisory services freely and often arrange the farmer gathering at our farms to promote and knowledge sharing sessions. I have a desire to do something good for Earth, human health, environment and particularly for our next coming generations. We are trying to perform well and hopefully to succeed and bring a positive change for our farmer community, as well as trying to change in farming structure”. The starting point of all achievement is a desire!
